So, I've come to find out very quickly, that the bathroom is a place that gets very messy, very quickly. There's so much we tend to want to keep in the bathroom and before we know it, the medicine cabinet is exploding and there's no more room in the shower for our 9 different shampoo and conditioner bottles. Oh, and don't forget the multiple body washes that we definitely don't need in there...
I've realized two things throughout the process of organizing a very disorganized space. The first thing being that extra storage, whether it be attractive or not, is my friend. I'm not overly concerned about having a bathroom that needs to be on the cover of Home & Garden magazine at this point. Sure I like things to be neat and tidy, but I'm a college student. I don't need to spend thousands on a bathroom right now. :) The second thing I've learned-only keep 1 shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower. I know we WANT to keep 5 in there, but I'd rather deal with 1 instead of knocking a million bottles down at 5:30am while attempting to shower half-asleep...
Anyhow, here's my first problem solver in the bathroom. I picked up a 3-Drawer plastic organizer at Target for about $15.00, but you can get two of them for $25 at Walmart, here. Let me tell you, these might not be the best looking things in the world, and I plan on doing something crafty to this so it's not so ugly, but it's a life saver.
Not the prettiest, but imagine the mess that would be made if all of that didn't have a place to go?! |

Middle Drawer! |
Bottom Drawer! |
Things may look a little chaotic inside of each drawer, but let me tell you that just breaking items down into "sections" like that, makes things so much easier to find. My husband doesn't need to ask me where everything is all the time now, either :) It also allows us to keep a clutter free sink area and Medicine cabinet!! (See Below...)
The other space saver that I've found to be very helpful is a hanging rack/organizer for IN the shower. It helps keep all of our stuff off the sides of the tub (though it's not entirely possible to keep everything up off of there) and definitely tidy's things up around there. I found ours at Marshalls, but you can get them just about anywhere, including Walmart, Target, K-Mart, and especially online.
I liked this one because it has the hooks on it, to hang things from. It makes things so much easier!!! |
Bathrooms can be tricky, and I'll have even more tips on that room of the house coming up. Hope you enjoy these little but helpful suggestions!!!
Goodnight!!
xoxo Taylor
