Our First Child... (Well, Kind Of...)

I have the most exciting news ever (though it's a few weeks old), and thankfully it's not pregnancy news. (I'm hoping that isn't the case for at least a few more years...) Anyhow, we got a puppy!!! I couldn't be much more excited to have our little man in the house, and let me tell you he's just absolutely amazing. He's turned into a complete momma's boy and he is probably the cutest little pup I've ever seen in my life...

This was the first day we got him. He was just barely 10 weeks old!
Brody is a Papillon/Pomeranian mix and extremely well-tempered. He's amazing with people and other animals and also is great with children. I would definitely recommend this breed to just about anyone. He's high-energy but also loves to just cuddle up on the couch, too. What's amazing to me is how fast the little bugger has grown. He was born 6/26/2013, and though he's only about 4.8 lb. right now, you can tell how much bigger he's gotten just in time that we've had him.

Week #2, he loves Mom & Dad's bed...
Puppies are very hard work and we're VERY lucky that he hasn't been very hard to train. He loves to play and also loves to nap right now, which is a great combination. When we first got him, we immediately went to Petco, which is where I'm headed with this post. I'll give you a rundown as to what we made sure we had for him starting from night one.

-2 Bags of Food (The kind he was eating where we got him from, to avoid upsetting his tummy!!)
-Training Pads (We don't stick to any specific brand, but these have been a life-saver for training since both of us are in school and can't be home 24/7. He doesn't have any accidents because of these!!!!)
-Toys, Toys, Toys!!! (We bought him quite a few, to get him used to chewing on toys instead of our things! As we all know, puppies love to chew, so keeping lots of toys has definitely helped.)
-Dog Bed (For the obvious...)
-Gentle Slicker Wire Brush (Helps a ton with preventing mass amounts of shedding!)
-Food & Water Bowls (You can get thick plastic ones very very cheap and they're super sturdy!)
-Puppy Treats (They help big time with the potty training.)
-Collar & Retractable Leash
-Puppy Shampoo & Conditioner
-Harness
-More Toys :)

All of that being said, I love being a new puppy mom and I cannot say enough amazing things about him and his breed. His temperament is amazing, his coat is amazing and he is overall just perfect for my husband and I. He's so playful and always so incredibly loving towards everyone. He's been great with kids of all ages, too. He's getting neutered at the beginning of November, so he may calm down a little bit. He's just so stinkin' cute right now. He's supposed to be around 8lbs, so he only has about 3 lbs to go.

Brody on 10/21/2013, he's growing like a weed!!!

A quick question for all of my readers, though, Feel free to comment below to help me out :)

I was wondering what good tips are for puppies in that chewing stages, to prevent them from destroying walls, etc., We got him the Bitter Apple Spray and it seems to work very well. I wasn't sure if there were better options though, and I would love to hear what you guys all have to say about this... Tips are ALWAYS welcome and appreciated :)

xoxo Taylor
